This past week I continued with my google spreadsheet learning as I was going to be learning Microsoft excel for a part of my internship. As these are not the same, the similar programs have some basic similarities that can help me through the complexities of google spreadsheet. My Microsoft excel side internship could have taught me the ins and outs to programs such as these that can end up helping organization in different ventures. I will continue to learn how to use them as it applies heavily to my life and “business”.

This week in quarantine I have continued my google spreadsheet learning but have also looked into AWS as a part of the help desk curriculum. Amazon web services has been really cool to look through as it has different tools available for those who sign up. This has been a nice way of interacting with the software especially because I’ve had the time.
This week during quarantine I have looked into google sheets as this is where I keep track of my shoe selling. Before quartile I have been using someone’s template for my inputting but now as I have the time to create one of my own I have started learning the ins and outs of google sheets. As I will be investing soon enough this could also help in that perspective as I’ll have a place to keep track and the knowledge to utilize it effectively.
This past week I have been enjoying the nice weather and trying to get outside when it is. As restrictions and the virus are growing I've limited the amount of times I go out. This hopefully will change sometime soon in hopes of returning to a different yet regular life. School has been closed for about 6 weeks now and I only have a couple more weeks of remote learning which I'm excited about. It will be interesting to see what I can fill my time with but I'm sure this won't be too big of a struggle.
I have been staying productive in my house with activities such as watching TV doing homework and looking into college majors and minors. This has led me to different fields and industries in which I could be Ivein Interested or involved in. I’ve enjoyed looking deeper into these topics as it is an important decision especially going into college. I also run and workout most days which I also enjoy to do and can do while in the house. I have been using technology more than ever due to its accessibility. From my phone to iPad to laptop I’m constantly using these technologies which can be good and bad. I’ve been using them mostly to communicate with friends and complete my remote learning. Within the coming weeks I will be planning what I can do with my time after school ends in a couple weeks.
Now that the second semester has begun and I am still involved in the help desk we have begun talking about similar topics to get newcomers up to speed. This includes the 3D printing, coding and most importantly drones. Drones occupied our first couple weeks in the course as we learned/taught how to fly them to new members of the help desk. We were able to have a couple days of good weather where we were able to go outside and fly them for the best flying experience. On the other days we came in and took advantage of the space we had in the lower library. It was interesting flying them inside but we kept to all the safety precautions Mr. Wong told us and everything went smoothly. We then coded in groups for the remainder of class on some days which was cool as I could refresh my memory on simple code and make some fun projects with peers. During these strange times I've been keeping busy with an assortment of things. These range from playing games with my family to watching movies to playing online. At first when I heard about the school cancellation my original thought was immediately “vacation.” At that time I regret not knowing the magnitude of the virus and the impact it was going to have on society. As life began to almost shut down I began brainstorming various activities I could be doing to keep busy and be productive. Despite the different sleep, eat and overall schedule I've been able to get into a routine which I credit my productivity to. With college scholarships and learning more about my next year of school I've been able to write and learn a lot (respectively). Although I've grown fond of my new schedule, getting out of bed at 2pm is something that needs to change as there seems to be no day left when I get up. Now that online classes have started I will hopefully be getting up around 9am and getting my work done in the morning. This leaves the afternoon for runs, playing video games, and completing work. Technology has allowed me to stay in contact with my local family and I am unable to see and even with my family internationally. These times would be pretty difficult without technology as many families are using it to stay in touch with their loved ones. Technology will continue to be evident for the duration of the quarantine and virus and beyond these times.
This week in Help Desk we have had many walk-in technology problems from chrome book connectivity issue to iPad password resets. Juggling these walk-ins with our upcoming CSEd week began to get hard but we were able to balance these things. To prepare for CS Ed we each picked a different topic we had previously worked on in class that was could present to visitors, giving them a glimpse of the work we do in the class and into computer science. These tasked varied from 3D Printing to VR and even online architecture of homes. We were able to create an interactive VR experience where users can pick up objects in a defined area and move them around. This was fun and we had hoped to get some of the visitors involved. I also started to create a presentation on the sphere bots which are remote control robots built by the sphero company which also enables you to program them with different commands and customization tools. It came together nicely as I was also able to show the actions and commands in real life as a visual. This concluded CS Ed week and hopefully next year the team can market and get the word out because this learning experience could be beneficial to many who don’t take help desk
Week 3 we started to learn about the 3d printers and the code that goes into them. This connected to our week 2 lesson and showed how this code and every code can be inputted and used. We are now using these to create and develop different items. We continued with the 3d printing by finding templates in thingiverse to turn our desires into actual plastic objects.
We next started Virutal reality and artificial intelligence. In these lessons we highlighted the capabilities and details behind what drives AI and VR and how it can affect our daily lives in the future. We experimented with the PlayStation VR through space missions, underwater dives and rainforest/forest environments which were also full of clear picture and details. With AI we started playing games and plugging different shapes and ideas into an AI machine designed to guess what we were thinking. The AI was surprisingly good at guessing but only simple ideas...
